CORSTORPHINE AAC is delighted to announce the arrival of Steve Jack as the club’s official photographer.
Steve is a keen amateur snapper with a passion for sport, including stints as player, coach and umpire in football, hockey, rugby and tennis. He is also the head greenkeeper at a golf course in Dunfermline.
He is now looking forward to photographing CAAC athletes at events and capturing the joy of sport from a different perspective.
Steve, who was born in Perth and spent most of high school years in Fife, says: “I have a long interest in photography and always liked taking snapshots of daily life with friends,
family and documenting the golf courses I worked on. “In around 2018, I started taking it more seriously. I bought a camera with interchangeable lenses, learned more about all aspects of photography and tried different genres. It just developed from there.
“Sports and the outdoors are normally at the heart of most things I do so, as part of trying out different photography genres, I have also been photographing a range of sports, which
brought me to Corstorphine. Cross-country was what drew me to athletics as I like the association with people in nature and my connection with sport. “For some time, I have been considering being connected to a sports club and was looking over club websites to see who valued photography and who were the more proactive clubs at developing. I noticed CAAC were looking for a volunteer photographer, so I got in touch.
“I thought it would be a good way to help out and develop my skills – and I wanted to feel a bit more connected to a club and make it more meaningful, rather than turn up and shoot a
sports match. Athletics has such a range of events, so there is lots of variety.”
A warm welcome to Steve from everyone at CAAC.
