ALICE Mourao scooped three prizes as Corstorphine athletes’ efforts over the past 12 months were rewarded at the club AGM.

The U17 athlete was named Junior Female of the Year after claiming three PBs in the 800m, 1500m and mile to rocket up the Scottish rankings.

Alice, who also finished 2nd in the U20 800m at the Welsh Indoor Championships, even broke three U17 club records in the discus, javelin and shot put to display her all-round abilities.

Those efforts led to her claiming the Field Performance of the Year gong having improved her discus distance by five metres to 24.76m.

She also stepped up to be part of the women’s squad who claimed their first senior national team title with gold in the 3x800m at the Scottish Track Relay Championships last June.

The trio – also comprising Kirstian MacAulay and Olivia Clarke – was rewarded with the Senior Team of the Year award.

Tom Martyn was named Senior Male Athlete of the Year after setting club records in the 5K (14:32) and marathon (2:19:56), and a superb 2nd in the Great Scottish Run half-marathon. He also enjoyed a strong cross-country season.

Josie Wren Golder took the Senior Female Athlete of the Year prize having stormed to a 10K PB of 36:14 at the Great Scottish Run to rank third overall in Scotland at U20 level.

She also finished 3rd in both the Scottish Short Course XC Championships and the East District XC Champs in the U20s, and 4th in the National XC Championships. Her performances helped earn her a first Scotland vest for the Celtic Nations XC.

The Endurance Performance of the Year award went to Dermot Cummins for smashing the men’s V40 10-mile record by more than three-and-a-half minutes to clock 50:54 at the Tom Scott Memorial Road Races.

Dougie Selman won the Ron Anderson Trophy for the second successive year after claiming the British 100K title. His club record run of 6:34:28 also helped secure team gold for Scotland in the Anglo Celtic Plate in Perth.

The inaugural Para Athlete of the Year accolade was shared by Finlay Menzies and Ian Duncan, who have been part of the frame running squad since its inception in January 2023. Finlay was the first frame runner to complete the Edinburgh half-marathon, while Ian has enjoyed success in international competitions.

Stewart Maclean (U15) was named Junior Male Athlete of the Year for his displays at Forth Valley League and CSSAL meetings. Stewart, who also volunteers as part of CAAC’s Active Schools coaching sessions at the Royal High, got his 100m PB down to 12.7secs this year.

The Junior Team of the Year was the CSSAL Juniors who helped the club gain promotion to Division 2, while Ade Okunfolami (U13) won the Sprint Performance of the Year for clocking 15secs in the 75m hurdles to rank 9th overall in Scotland.
