A FURTHER two club records have been broken – including one by an athlete competing over the distance for the first time.

Lucas Key set a new 400m benchmark for U17 men with a superb run of 51.58 secs at the Central and South of Scotland Athletic League (CSSAL) meeting at Grangemouth.

Saturday’s achievement was even more impressive as Lucas had never raced in the 400m before. He broke the long-standing previous best of 52.63 set by Craig Knowles in 2007.

Meanwhile, Dermot Cummins smashed the men’s Vet 10-mile record by more than three-and-a-half minutes with a storming performance at the Tom Scott Memorial Road Races.

Dermot, who turned 40 just two days before the March 31 event, won his new age category in a time of 50 mins and 54 secs at Strathclyde Park.

The result topped Chris Poxton’s record of 54:36, set at the same race last year.
