In addition to all our existing training groups, we are excited to announce a brand new JogScotland 10-week training block for beginner runners, starting on 2 May 2024. There is also another jogscotland group ‘The Craic Squad’ for intermediate to advanced runners who prefer/need to run at a gentler pace than the main endurance squad.
Starting out – Couch to 5K group:
Ideal for those who are either new to running, have been inactive for a while, or would like to build up their fitness. The sessions are run in 10-week blocks and are based around walk/jog intervals, adjusted to suit the needs of everyone in the group. The group is led by qualified jogscotland leaders and we look forward to welcoming you and helping you start out on your running journey. Each session will begin with a warm-up, then a varied walk-jog interval session increasing the amount of jogging gradually week-by-week and finishing with a cool-down. The jogscotland leaders will advise you about further sessions you can do on your own during the week to help you grow stronger and fitter.
When? Thursdays 7pm – 8pm, First block commences 2 May 2024.
Where? Saughton Park, Ford’s Road carpark.

Ideal if you are recovering after a race or returning from injury or illness or just want to run at a gentler pace. The Craic Squad is also led by qualified jogscotland leaders. Distance covered is usually between 5K and 8K and provides a range of different activities to further develop running fitness. Warm-up and cool-down as with the Starting Out group.
