Forth Valley League - a strong start

Last Saturday around 30 of our kids team (under 11's, 13's and 15's) headed to Grangemouth for the first Forth Valley League meeting of the summer season.  I'm pleased to say that my early season optimism was not misplaced as we witnessed some excellent performances by the whole team.  On the day we finished second of nine clubs with Edinburgh AC just pipping us by a meagre five points (535 v 530).  Plans are already afoot to rectify that at the 2nd match on 18 May.  The full results are attached (I hope!) and definitely worth a scan.

CSSAL Match 1 | Grangemouth | 12 May 2013

Our club has been developing strongly and rapidly over the last few years (the BC effect?) and not just in our top end senior athletes. I think development in the junior squads has been just as striking. Being promoted two years in a row, which was our situation this time last year, was evidence for that. But Division One was tough, every race, jump, throw and official place must be filled for us to truly compete there. I believe we'll qualify for Division one again, and I would love for it to be by winning Division Two outright. Lets see what we're capable of this year.

Best run ever on one of the worst nights ever.

Following a record breaking winter season by our seniors the kids section have put down an early marker that they intend to put in as equally an impressive summer. Last night 9 of our juniors headed through to Livingstone for the first open graded meeting of the season. The weather was abysmal. Gusting winds, cold temperatures and rain showers meant that all prospects of pbs were gone - or were they! Most impressive run of the night was Hannah Addison in the 800m. Despite the conditions (and a session of 16x200m the night before) Hannah battled her way to a time of 2mins 27.03secs.

Time Trail Night Number Two: The Sprints

It was another bone chittering and blustery evening for the second time trail night of the year and first for the sprinters. A 200m and 400m time trial was on offer and a large squad of juniors took it up. For some it was their first "race" on the track, a chance to try out their sprint starts, for others a time to try out their 2013 season legs.

Men's League Kimarnock 20th April

Apart from requiring names of people who would like to compete in the first men's League match of the season (thanks those who have emailed so far) I desperately need a 3rd person to officiate at the match.  We already have Mike and Eileen Clerihew who are seasoned professionals at this so you do not have to be experienced but without a 3rd official we will not be allowed to take part.  If you are able to help please get in touch with me -

New All Club Time Trails kick off Summer Training

There was a great turnout for the first All Club Time Trail night. Despite sub zero temperature more than 40 of us turned out to lay down a start of season marker over 1000m or 3000m. It was a inspiring display, a grand statement of our clubs tenacious spirit to strive for better. It was everything I had dreamed it could be  - the perfect start to summer training.

CSSAL: Scotstoun finale

It was a good day at Scotstoun on Sunday. Great stadium, good weather (mostly) and some pbs to boot. This was the last chance to take a chunk out of the 1st Division clubs. The battle to keep our place in 1st Div had been lost by the second meet so this was a chance to compete for the fun of it.
