Cummins leads white and brown speckled charge!

News from the East District League finale and Cross Country Championships from Livingston is that likely lad Dermot (aka Derek) Cummins finished 8th and led the Senior Mens team to 3rd place. Backed up by solid runs and good packing from Steven O'Brien 21st, Bryan 'Be Prepared' Clark 22nd, Christopher O'Brien, Scott Pilkington and the mercurial return of Nigel Lamb. After a number of late call offs and unfortunate meetings with tweaks and injury the team was looking threadbare but despite lashings of mud, rain and wind they appear to have managed to hold onto some silverware (or rather bronzeware). Central took the honours, followed by Edinburgh AC. More to follow as news breaks...

The day was as mentioned a

The day was as mentioned a double header and as such the first race of the day was the U11 combined non championship league race. All those present witnessed the start of the Addison assault with a fine sprint finish by Stephen to finish well. Shortly after in the U13 boys race Anthony was unlucky to miss out on a medal finishing a close 4th backed up well by the first of the Galloway gang, Samuel in 8th. Matthew wasnt far behind and the trio scooped 3rd team. Hannah also ran the medals close in the U13 girls race finishing close in 5th. The day continued and as underfoot conditions worsened after the wear of hundreds of tiny feet Matthew U15, Chris Galloway U17  and Isabelle Bough U17 scooped top 10 finishes finishing 7th, 9th and 10th in their races respectively. Chris teamed up with Calum Smith and Craig Nolan to score a fantastic 3rd team result for the U17 men. The senior women were unfortunate not to have a 4th counter as a superb run from Jo Kirby in 30th place, followed in by Gillian Carr and Corrie Roberts would've surely left them close to the medals. Last but not least was the mixed U20/Senior and Masters mens race, with no U20s and the Seniors already accounted for above it was left to the now v40 not V35 masters to try get on the podium. The team of Grant Wilkie, Ian Johnston and Graeme Fletcher were 1pt off 4th place placing 5th.

With the weather being mild a good day was had by all despite the wind, rain, mud, mud, snow and mud. There were certainly a lot of smiles on peoples faces.

Thanks to all supporters and team organisers!

Well done to everyone who

Well done to everyone who competed yesterday for the club and posted some really excellent performances and results. We should remember that this was a championship and District Championships are second only to National Championships in the Scottish Cross Country calendar in terms of prestige, rankings and quality. Corstorphine should therefore be proud of what we have achieved but lets not rest on our laurels! There are 5 weeks to go to the biggest race of the cross country season, the Scottish National Cross Country Championships. So lets see a big team go to Falkirk and produce some even better results there! As a legendary former Chairman of the club used to say, CORSTORPHINE EXPECTS!!!

That's my "I mean business"

That's my "I mean business" face!! Either that or I'm still trying to catch my breath on the first lap after sprinting to the start line as 10 mins before the start of the race I was still in the school with no spikes on or number on my vest! Good preparation for someone who is always so over prepared!!

To be fair Ron was and Mozza both advocate(d) not changing your pre race build up.. so arguably this "normal preparation" was perfect! Well done. ;]
