The club has two annual Handicap races, both bookends to the CAAC Scratch Attack Road Race Series. Both are aimed to have all club athletes finishing together for a real last minute rush to the line.

CAAC Spring Handicap

The CAAC Spring Handicap is a resurrected titan of classic classics. Last won by Ian Macrae when ran in the late 1980's, it returns to the CAAC calendar. Of the same ilk as the Autumn Handicap, its a easy going event and the handicapping should be of high quality to allow classics finishes this classic deserves.

The route is ~10k and runs from Currie to Balerno, this is the exact same route that the previous races were run on all those years ago. The route can be viewed here, (note its 2 laps!) CAAC Spring Handicap route & elevation.

The Handicap takes place generally on the second Saturday of April, which is at the start of the Track & Field and Road Running season.

CAAC Autumn Handicap

The CAAC Autumn Handicap is a great end of season event for all CAACrs, its held in a lighthearted atmosphere and the handicapping is generally fairly well done allowing a storming finish between all athletes.

The route starts and finishes outside the main entrance to Saughton enclosure and loops round the back of the park to Gorgie Road and back.. The route can be viewed here, CAAC Autumn Handicap route & elevation.

The Handicap takes place on the Thursday night of club Championship week, which is at the end of the Track & Field season in September. Not to be outdone by the athletic endeavour the Handicap is followed closely by a secondment to the Corstorphine Inn for a social, this year there were even Scotch Pies laid on!
