2016 Autumn Handicap - Thursday 29th September

The Summer season is all but over and the last Thursday of track training welcomes the traditional Autumn Handicap. This year's race will take place on Thursday 29th September and the first runner will be set off at 7pm.

The route http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1441641 is approximately 2.26miles or 3.6km and the race is open to U17's and up. To enter please see your coach and give them a recent time for a race of 1mile up to 5km (or several if you like) or post here.

If you are able to help out then please let me know - I generally need 6-7 people to marshal the course and operate the start/finish area although the more runners the better. BRING PINS!

It's far too early to say if there will be pies or other pastry based sustenance post-race but there will undoubtedly be liquid refreshment at The Corrie Inn.

I've got a marathon on the Sunday, so wouldn't want to run but happy to help out with marshalling.

I've only got a half marathon

I've only got a half marathon on the Sunday so I've half a mind to marshal and save my legs. If you don't need me then I'll run half-heartedly.

Half marathon on the Sunday, so a few gentle laps of the track and a marshalling vest for me!

I will be surprised if I beat

I will be surprised if I beat previous times for this course, predict around 13mins 45secs on fresh legs but good chance I will have to run 3miles there so probably struggling to get under 14mins.

Also, there are quite a few

Also, there are quite a few first timers this year so the more marshals the merrier. I have BC and Moray on start/finish and Victor and Graeme for marshal points. Could do with 3 or 4 more

You clearly didn't run fast

You clearly didn't run fast enough!! Thanks to all for turning out and to all the helpers, particularly Moray and BC - sounds like they had a tough job in dwindling light.

Ran too fast Tom, suffered

Ran too fast Tom, suffered from cramps ever since. I'm just glad not to have skewed your predictions this year and managed to get within 10%. One other thing the results I saw on Twitter had me just ahead of Tom Wilson but it was the other way round. Wouldn't want to cheat.
As Neil has said thanks though for organising and BC and Moray for managing to record over 30 finishers in the dark.
