To All Club Members,
The Club Championships will be held on Saturday 18th August 2012 at Saughton Sports Enclosure and THIS YEAR IT WILL BE FOLLOWED BY THE ANNUAL CLUB BBQ WITH ALL CLUB MEMBERS, FAMILY AND FRIENDS INVITED TO COME ALONG AND JOIN IN THE FUN.
The championships are for members only however - i.e. those who have paid their subscription. You must register by 10.00am and the first events will start at 10.30am. You should use this time to do any field event practice and warm-ups for any early track events. There will be no time at each of your field events to practice before your competition starts. The competition consists of four events for each age group, one sprint, one middle distance event, one jump and one throw. ALL FIELD EVENTS WILL BE RESTRICTED TO TWO ATTEMPTS AT EACH ROUND.
This year the annual club BBQ will follow the club championships which are expected to finish around 12.45pm. The food will be provided by the club but there will be a donations box to help cover the cost of the event. Following the BBQ there will be football, rounders, tug o’ war, a treasure hunt and the much anticipated potted sports.
There will be awards for the winners of each age group with presentation of trophies will taking place at approximately 2.00pm. A nominal charge of £2.00 will be made for each athlete competing in the Championships. Athletes will not have to pay to enter Saughton on the day. Any members of the club or their families who are willing to help out at the championships for various duties, please give your name to Bryan Clark, Sheena Anderson OR Tim Norwood ASAP. IF YOU ARE FIT ENOUGH TO COMPETE THOUGH WE WOULD ASK THAT YOU DO THAT RATHER THAN ASSISTING AS AN OFFICIAL.
THE SUCCESS OF THIS EVENT DEPENDS ON EVERYONE'S SUPPORT.
Scoring :
The scores will be calculated on the position of each athlete in each event. The winner will be the athlete with the lowest score from all four events. Example: If you finish 1st, 3rd, 5th and 6th in your events, your score will be (1+3+5+6) = 15 points. One penalty point more than the total number of competitors in that competition group will be awarded to athletes who fail any event (e.g. you do not finish in an event, and there were 10 athletes in total, you would have 11 pts). If more than one did not finish that event, each would score 11 points.

ALL THOSE WHO WISH TO TAKE PART IN THE CHAMPIONSHIPS, PLEASE DOWNLOAD, COMPLETE AND RETURN THE SLIP ATTACHED, WITH THE ENTRY FEE TO BRYAN CLARK OR SHEENA ANDERSON BY THURSDAY 9th AUG.

With this in mind - I will be issuing all coaches with a list of their unpaid squad members so there is STILL TIME not to be on that list by filling in the form attached and handing it to me with your membership subs on Thursday this week at the club, or post it to me if that is better for you.
Membership subs are as follows and were due on 1st April 2012
Junior or Student £16.00
Senior £32.00
Family £55.00 (2 adults and 2 children)
You know who you are.....more importantly so do I! Hope to receive your remittances soon.

I thought the club champs were great fun this weekend and the new Saturday morning time worked very well.
Thanks to the organizing team, marshals and all the helpers.
