Peebles Beltane 10K Trail race

Gillian and I headed down to Peebles to take part in this years  Beltane 10K.  We did this a few years ago when it was a road race, but now it has been converted to a trail race, on a route not to dissimilar to the route used in the Borders XC series.  As we had missed the XC season last year it was to our great joy that the rain had turned much of the course into a mud bath, so we got a good fix of the "brown stuff'.

The route started with a loop of the park at the Gytes center before running along the river to Haylodge park for other loop of that park.  We then followed the XC route along the river and over the viaduct into the woods.  After a tough climb through the trees it was back down on the the railway line which was very manky before racing back to the Gytes center for a final lap of the park before finishing at the grandstand.

A really fun course and some nice home baking post race.  Gillian and I both had enjoyable runs and it was nice to catch up with an old friend Edel Mooney, who used to train with CAAC.
