The REAL RELAY

Here's an epic Olympic event we can all take part in, the REAL RELAY. It an unofficial relay round the UK where the bearers actually RUN and several hundred runners pass a single baton round the 8000 mile route. I'm waiting for the East Scotland stages to appear and think I'll sign up. Check it out.

What are you doing after 1am

What are you doing after 1am on Saturday morning Tim? Looks like there are still some stages near Fort William and Laggan at that time. Could always do one of those legs. I reckon 233 would be particularly nice, along the banks of the loch as the sun comes up.

I might be tempted to sign up

I might be tempted to sign up for one of these legs at the weekend. At night or dawn, no support offered, just handed the GPS tracker and you run the route of your own choosing to the next handover point with a minimum pace requirement to keep to the time. Sounds like my kind of challenge. We could get a bunch of CAACers doing these stages, handing off to each other, and doing the support for each other. Anyone?

They are still seriously

They are still seriously struggling to get runner for legs 232,  it is amongst the very few left in remote parts of Scotland not to be taken, almost everything else is filled well into next week. There is only 12 hours until this leg. Can anyone fill it? Know anyone that could? Pass the word around! https://www.facebook...

Graeme that looks like a unusual and seriously challenging ultra! But the thought of running circles (and in a city) for the that length of time just does not appeal to me. I can think of nothing worse! Take that distance into the countryside, preferably on trails and I think it would be far more appealing. Not that I think my body would be capable of it.

They've found people for leg

They've found people for leg 232. I believe it's being split into sub stages and the baton will be taken to the summit of Ben Nevis (It's already been up Snowdon in Wales) on route from Fort William to Spean Bridge. Been told the leg will take about 2:30 given the time of night and the diversion to take in the summit, so Tim and I have been asked to make the time up on our legs. Really looking forward to it now!
