Allan Scally Road Relays 3rd November

While everyone is in relay mode, whether basking in the club's 3rd place at the MacAndrews last weekend or looking forward to getting down 'n' dirty at Camperdown this Saturday, bear in mind the Scallys which take place on 3rd November through in the west. The race is over 3 legs for women and 4 for men covering a shade under 5 miles each leg. CAAC have supported this race for many years and have fielded as many as 4 teams in the past. Entry fees will be met by the club and there are all time club records to be gunned for - more information to follow. Put the date in your diaries....

7 Reservoirs Race

Harmeny has announced a new race in the Pentlands. A tour of 7 reservoirs has been a favourite training run of mine since before I joined this club. Keith may remember this one as his first ever Sunday run with CAAC?

Now it's an official race, on 2nd December. See www.pentland7reservoirs.org.uk (100 places only!)

2012 MACANDREW ROAD RELAYS 6TH OCTOBER

Good afternoon all.

Last year CAAC sent a team for the first time through to these road relays in Jordanhill, Glasgow.  These relays have been going on for 72 years so it was a great surprise that we hadn't sent a team through before.  It was a great race and enjoyable course and I think we should try and support this event from now on because of the history of it.

The course is a little over 3 miles and perfect preparation for the upcoming District relays and even a potential warm up for those doing the Ian Hodgson the following day.

Borders Cross Country 2012/13

The dates for this years Border's XC have been announced.

There has usually been quite a large turn out from the club most years for this series, with club often winning the team and many of the individual category prices. You can read about the clubs past exploits here. Who's entering this year?

Full details about the series, the races, and entry details can be found here:

Cross-Country Fixtures - with relay closing dates

In an attempt to be more organised this year, we need to know by Tuesday 25th September if you want to run in the East District relays and by Tuesday 9th October for the National Relays. Please let your coach know as soon as possible.

Points to Note:

  1. You need to tell your coach (or me) if you want to run in championship races. For league races, just turn up and put a "31" on your vest (our Club number) and run!
  2. You MUST have a valid Scottish Athletics membership number to compete.
  3. The Vets/Masters age for championship races is 35 (men and women) but is 40 for the league races.
  4. The whole timetable for league races has been brought forward by 30 minutes (i.e. first race at 12:30; men's race at 2:00)

2012 Autumn Handicap

With the club championships taking place on a Saturday afternoon this year I almost forgot about the Autumn Handicap coming, as it usually does, on the Thursday following the Tuesday night wind and rain fest of the club champs.  So, without further ado I announce the 2012 Autumn Handicap which will take place on Thursday 20th September with the first athletes setting off at 7pm.

Donald Gorrie

It is with great regret that we read of Donald Gorrie passing away last night. A long time Honorary President of Corstorphine Athletics Club. We will remember the quality athlete, and able prose that was delivered of both and AGMs and anniversary dinner. RIP Donald.
