Donald Gorrie

It is with great regret that we read of Donald Gorrie passing away last night. A long time Honorary President of Corstorphine Athletics Club. We will remember the quality athlete, and able prose that was delivered of both and AGMs and anniversary dinner. RIP Donald.

CSSAL: Scotstoun finale

It was a good day at Scotstoun on Sunday. Great stadium, good weather (mostly) and some pbs to boot. This was the last chance to take a chunk out of the 1st Division clubs. The battle to keep our place in 1st Div had been lost by the second meet so this was a chance to compete for the fun of it.

Friday Night Miler Meet

The track and field scene is definitely quieter whilst the main event goes on in London but there are still some meetings taking place around the country.

Last night saw the second "Friday Night Miler Meet" take place at Glasgow's Scotstoun stadium. These meetings now in their second year are run under the banner of the hugely successful British Milers Club and provide seeded races with pacemakers to help athletes on to new personal bests.

Thursday night Running group

From tomorrow night, we are planning to run another training group to supplement Dave's. This group will be aimed at new members, those coming back from injury, or if you simply fancy a less intense session at the end of the week!!

There will be a variety of sessions, some long runs (around 6 - 7 miles), interval training and some hill sessions, going along the Canal, Water of Leith and Harrison & Roseburn Parks.

Hope to see you tomorrow!

The Tour - Stage 5

And there you have it. Before you know it it's all over. You know what - I will miss the Tour. It's hard, but it's brilliant. After the beach race and necessary refueling I spent most of the early night trying to get to sleep. Not sure what it is but really can't get to sleep until about 1.30am after the journey back from Fife. For a while I thought it was Grant's texts keeping me awake, but now realise that it is the excitement of racing early evening and then knowing you have another one to do the next day. Not sure what I am going to do tomorrow evening!

The Tour - Stage 4

No mind games from Coach Dave today. Not a peep. Reckon he was catching up on the Olympics or was just to tired to switch the phone on. Instead an early morning text from Grant letting me know he was taking his duties as a father very seriously, up early to get his son his necessary supplies. Was I interested? Of course I was, it made me smile and reminded me of the time that I had teenage kids to look after. Bless.

The Tour - Stage 3

Coach Dave tried some more mind games today, but to be honest I was feeling too tired to really care...... who cares how many seconds Fiona is ahead of me? She's a better runner, she very definitely has age on her side and there was the very small matter of the Up HELL Time Trial. It's amazing how soon exuberance of being involved in the tour merges into weary determination to get the thing over and done with. Yes as you can see in one of my more optimistic moods again.
