Strathaven 10K

In an attempt to see if I can catch Mike Anderson in the 'can't stop running' category I thought I would try enter as many races as I possibly could between now and Christmas. So today it was the Strathaven 10K. An easy downhill course I had been reliably informed by course record holder Ken - ideal I though after a rather hilly weekend last week. A total descent of 118m would suit me fine. 11.8m descent a kilometer means no really steep downhills and therefore no danger of Ken making any unsportsmanlike remarks.

Beachy Head Marathon

In my hunt for obscure races where I might be able to set a club record I had found the Beachy Head Marathon. Good idea I thought, it's pretty far south so little chance of any other CAACers doing it or ever having done it. Well I suppose on that count - yes it was a good idea. However, perhaps I should have studied the terrain and course profile a little closer before entering...... This is a marathon which is on grass, trails and rather a lot of hills -  rather a lot of hills with 3,500ft of ascent across the 26+ miles.

Aviemore Half Marathon

Saturday in Dundee had been pretty amazing. The CAAC senior men's team had broken Central AC's strangle hold on the first two positions in the East District XC Relays by winning a well deserved silver. Whilst the master women's and men's went one better by winning gold. Awesome!

Sunday in Aviemore proved to be pretty fruitful too. A first place, two second places and a handful of PBs made this a pretty successful weekend for CAAC.  Keith won the half and was of course also first vet. Gillian was 2nd senior lady in the half in a new PB time. Grant - I won't tell anyone when I am running a race - Wilkie appear out of nowhere to take 2nd place in the 10k also in a new PB time. In addition to the Gillian's and Grant's PBs, Sarah, Rachel and I also improved our half marathon times. It only took me 6 years to improve my time..........

East District XC Relay Silverware

Much silverware collected today at Dundee, starting with gold for our Ladies Masters, then, having thrown down the challenge, our Senior Men's first team picked up silver, and just to complete the symmetry, our Men's Masters also picked up gold. Pictures and full results and reports to follow.

Well done to all!!

Allan Scally Road Relays 3rd November

While everyone is in relay mode, whether basking in the club's 3rd place at the MacAndrews last weekend or looking forward to getting down 'n' dirty at Camperdown this Saturday, bear in mind the Scallys which take place on 3rd November through in the west. The race is over 3 legs for women and 4 for men covering a shade under 5 miles each leg. CAAC have supported this race for many years and have fielded as many as 4 teams in the past. Entry fees will be met by the club and there are all time club records to be gunned for - more information to follow. Put the date in your diaries....
