The Old and The Young

As I was clocking up my 10th Parkrun in 19.41 on a bitterly cold morning young Andrew Christy, on his fist run, clocked a superb 16.27 to finish 2nd only 2 secs behind the winner who was only 14 years old! 105 took part which was an excellent turnout given the conditions.

Scottish Nationals XC 2010 , Callendar Park

A perfect day , a perfect setting , a fantastic course for this year’s Nationals at Falkirk. This is the 4th or 5th year that this event has been held here & if you’ve run the course or just been a spectator , you can see why the organisers keep using this setting in the grounds of CallendarPark.

Another ParkRun

I headed down to the ParkRun 5K fully expecting to see Torvill and Dean skating on the ice that was on the route which accompanied an extremely cold morning.  Running at pace was nearly impossible and I found myself doing a bit of cross country and using the grass to avoid the ice.  Managed 38th with 20.31 which is about 2mins

Parklife

Another healthly CAAC turnout for this weeks ParkRun.  A lovely bright morning saw a record 220 runners set of round the 5k loop.  This week race was won my Ross Toole (KIlbarchan AAC) who set the course records with a time of 14:31.  I run a bit faster than I thought and got a Parkrun PB at 18:12 (12th !!).  Gillian was pipped to the post and came in 2nd with a time of 19:32 on her Parkrun Debut.
