A slightly more relaxed approach to getting to the race this week. We left a bit later and were expertly driven by Graham who seems to know all the shortcuts to Gala! Only one small problem - roadworks in Gala, this meant that Rory had slightly less time to prepare for his race then he would have liked!
A bit of a rain start this morning, but by 9:30am the rain had left off in time for the start of the 16th Edinburgh Parkrun. CAAC was represented by 3 members this morning. Mike Anderson back racing after a period of illness. Was great to see him and Steve there at the start. I was scanning the competition at the start line, and didn't notice any familiar faces.
Luckily enough Grant was driving today. Normally this means two things 1. you get there early 2. you have time to run the course about twenty times before the actual race begins! You see Grant likes to get to races early and then thoroughly prepare. Me? I was already obsessing about our pits stop on the way back at the Cedar Cafe. You see us older athletes have different priorities.
Got up 6.30am. Joanna asked whether I was mad. "It's Saturday, what are you doing?" Me: "A race - got to go and pick up Chris P and then meet the guys at PC World. Perhaps a bit early but Grant's going and you know he likes to be at races in good time!" Having packed all my stuff the evening before I felt ready for what is one of the best relay hill races I know.
