Update from the far north...
Hi all,
Well done to everyone for your efforts at the nationals yesterday. I’ll hopefully make it again one of these years!
I was stretching my legs today at the Kinloss to Lossiemouth half marathon in perfect PB setting conditions, with an encouraging tail wind along the west to east course. I set off too fast though, completing the first mile in 5m 14s and only got slower as I was mostly overtaken throughout the race. I cursed myself afterwards for being lazy in the closing stages, as I could have posted a wind assisted PB, but missed out by 8 seconds. I finished 9th in 1h 16m 39s. The winning time was 71m49s. Results are here: http://www.morayroadrunners.com/Results%202012.htm
I’m pretty happy with my form and will hope to smash my PB at the Inverness half next month. I just need to learn how to hurt and push the pain barrier!! All good London marathon training though.
If anyone’s interested in a wee adventure to the far north, the Hoy half marathon in Orkney is Sunday 17 June. Entries have just opened and I have attached the entry form. You’re welcome to crash with me in Wick on the Friday night, get the ferry over on the Saturday, hike to the Old Man of Hoy, wild camp Saturday night, and race on the Sunday.
I’ve been enjoying the fantastic local trail run series around Caithness organised by North Highland Harriers during the winter months. http://www.northhighlandharriers.co.uk/default.asp I’ll be doing the Wick Sprint Triathlon on 10 June if anyone wants to come up and do it. Again, you’re welcome to stay with me. The link is on the fixtures page.
Happy running folks!
