Carnethy 5 : what a battle

The Carnethy 5 is a classic and was my first hill race back in 2002. Can't think why its taken me 10 years to return. It's simply a barry day out racing over my locals hill amongst the best hill runners the UK has to offer. Two of us from 2002 were in action again this year (Paul and me) along with a veteran of C5 and life itself, Martin Hulme; a man amidst his second coming (no not Berry the other one), Greame McLean, and hill newby Derek Ireland. Times show it was a fast one with winner  Orlando Edwards of HBT clocking the 5th fastest ever. For full results, reports and some nice pictures check out the Carnethy website (http://www.carnethy.com/#February).

We CAAC men aquitted oorsels well. Martin picked up 2nd M60 and the rest of us didn't pick up any injuries. I took a dizzy spell heading up the first climb which thankfully passed but the climbs really took it out of me. Think I just need more time in the hills. Still, I beat my 2002 time by nearly 2 minutes and enjoyed the run back to the school.
