Firstly, thank you to Graeme, Grant, Chris P and Jan for helping to set up the course at Broxburn this morning and to John and Bob for marshalling. Thankfully, it stayed dry and fairly mild.
Well done to all who have run over the league season, particularly the senior men who were confirmed as League Champions for the first time in the Club's history today! We are now in posession of a mighty shield - viewing by appointment with BC!
There's five weeks now until the Nationals, so every reason to expect a great performance there.
Notable performances that im aware of thus far include Dougie 3rd in the Seniors and Anthony Addison romping away in the U13's to win.
Anymore results from onlookers? Results in general take a wee bit longer for the league as there is number to name match affair to do. I've got some video footage of races, ill try piece together something to summarise the day.
I'd additionally like to thank the guys that helped today with course duties they were there from 9am! And furthermore to Alex Jackson and his team.
To be a part of this title winning team has been great! (..and remember thats everyone, pushing back people in places helps the scorecard all round and facilitiating the actual occurence of the event all make it possible - so this is everyone's victory to savour). Lets keep the hard work going, Central and Co won't take this lieing down next year ;]
Well done all.
Championees ...............................
And a nice mention to the Club & the "Hairy O'Briens " from Graham Bennison of Fife AC
"I'm glad to see Corstorphine win the historic Sandilands Mens Shield for the first ever time.....particlarly Chris and Steve O'Brien who I have watched over many years develop from wee sprogs to adult (well some way to go yet !!) hairy men. "
Courtesy of the quick and diligent Bennison Posts @ http://s2.excoboard.com/fifeac/58600/2324078. Happy to say Hannah Addison followed up her excellent Inter District run last week finishing 3rd in the U15 Girls race too.
Our Veterans also won the Team race today, but missed out to our bogey team Carnegie Harriers ;]
lol.. i totally skimmed over that bit, cheers for posting. With such superfluations im gonna have to get faster to really earn them. ;]
As an ex member I am absolutely delighted at todays success.
When I first joined the club at times it seemed a struggle to get 6 counting runners out!
Long may the success continue but beware MADAC are coming!

Well done the CAAC - Years in the making and to think that Moray was a team member back in our first season in 1986/87. (When men were men and women had their own league!). This seasons team also comprised of 'home breds' such as; Tommy, Hairy O'Briens, Tim, Kris and Dougie with the best performance of the day...
Look forward to next season which, will no doubt be difficult (as usual) as EAC will not not like being second to CAAC!
'Healthy in Body, healthy in mind'.
To be fair Dave, i wasn't quite a member of the senior men's team back then!
Noted from my almost illegible 86/87 Weetabix "Get into Sport" training diary that as our name changed midway through the season the first league race we ran as CAAC was on the 31st of January 1987 at Heriot Watt, Riccarton. Near enough 25 years ago exactly. What a perfect way to continue our 25th anniversary celebrations. Well done to everyone involved in any way throughout the season.
Congratulations to the Senior mens team, a well deserved win. Also well done to the young Addisons.
A good result for us veterans yesterday. I don't know the official points but I wonder if the mix up at Stirling with race positions would make any difference. Myself and John Christy are down as seniors, not vets and we were a lot further up the field than the results show.
Well done you guys fantastic news it was a long time coming !!!
From Dean and Gillian in Durban !!
Congratulations lads on a well deserved title.
Alex J mentioned that our only other trophy was way back in 1995 when the U11 Boys won. Our very own Kris Berry is the only survivor of that team which consisted of K Berry, M Cumming, G Yorkston R Barr and P Robertson. There were a few other stalwarts back then who are still going. Obviously we had all the O'Briens and the Carthorse. BC was just and U17 then and Ewan Stark was probably on his first comeback as an U13. Strangely Moray wasnt doing Cross Country that season.
And finally some young whippersnapper called Keith Hood was slowly catching up on Ian Cumming... and he even beat that ex club member Mike Malcolm-Smith (but not by much).
Put simply the result of being crowned East District League Champions in the Senior Men's age group counts alongside any individual or team National titles this club has achieved. Infact this result may be the greatest in our history. To win the league championship requires excellent results, hard work and commitment over three races not just on a one off occasion where anything can happen. This is a victory for the whole club and we should be proud! Now lets take the confidence that being crowned League Champions should give us and take on the rest of Scotland at the National Cross Country Championships!

Come on, give me a challenge......the first song is classic 90s Brit Pop and is The Bluetones with Things Change and I think the second song is Abba with The Winner Takes It All. Am I correct???
Well done to all the CAAC athletes who ran at the weekend and especially the senior men for bringing home that massive shield for the first time in the clubs history.
Having looked at the overall results of the men we should take note that on the day the men were 2nd,4th,and 8th team which shows our strength in depth (24 counters) and there were also a few absentees. In addition in the overall league CAAC were 1st and 4th mens team which again shows how strong we are at x/country.
Of course the cow bell had a bit to do with it with encouragement on the course.
Well done everyone, fantastic achievement!
