HBT Grudge Match

We've just recieved the following correspondence. I certainly feel it would be rude to turn down such a challenge. So hands up legs armed, whos up for it. Will update once the date has been nailed down. (4th would be my choice!).

Hi,

Just to introduce myself, I'm the Disorganiser (otherwise known as the Events Organiser!) for Hunters Bog Trotters.

I'm emailing to see if you would be interested in the annual HBT Grudge Match. Historically, this has been a race between HBT, Westerlands & the Hairies and this year it has fallen to HBT to arrange the event...Some of the current HBT committee have allegiances with Costorphine (Phyllis Mitchell and Ray Ward) & suggested that you might be keen to join in! I'm not too sure if you're the best person to contact, but hopefully you might be able to send this email to the relevant person or let me know who would be best to contact.

The format of the day would be organised in the usual HBT style - a hill race followed by beer & food in a local pub. I haven't yet booked anywhere (I was waiting to see which date would suit the attendees best) but we would make sure that the venue can be reached by public transport so that those who wish to consume beer can make it home safely...The event won't be anything too formal but should be good fun.

Potential dates for holding this are Sunday 27th November or Sunday December 4th. We're still waiting on the the other 2 clubs to confirm which date would suit them best.

Anyway, let me know if you would be interested in this! Or alternatively maybe you could let me know who would be the best person to contact regarding this?

HBT Grudge Match

Talking to our 'inside' woman last night it looks to be scheduled for the 27th. Route starting from Swanston Golf Club of ~6K. (sorry Tim!)

The prize at stake is the Scottish Athletics Federation Ashes. Quite a prize i think you'll agree? Who else is up for it? (Those that have seen if you can pass round at training seeing i am AWOL these days.)

Boggies also negotiating soup and sandwiches in the Golf Club for afters.

Right all, time for a list.

Right all, time for a list. Details are finalised (below) and map is attached and now we need to assemble our army! Hopefully there are a fair few more to streghten our ranks?

How did the Grudge Match go chaps ?  Or are you still in the pub ?

I was going to drop into the Hunter's Tryst after work to see if anyone was up for a run in the hills with torches - perhaps not ;-)

Adam P 2nd, Tommo 4th, MikeA 12th, POB and a wayward Peggie also ran (not sure of places). Very enjoyable even with an earlier 15miles in the legs! Don Naylor overhauled Adam on the flat to win

In fairness I wasn't the only runner to go awry on the way back down to the finish. By the time us back markers were coming off the hill the flour & tape indicating the correct route would appear to have gone awol resulting in a brief detour across the golf course...
