Haddington Half Marathon

It was the Haddington half marathon yesterday and a few from the club turned up on what was rapidly becoming a hot afternoon. The route is gently undulating on the B roads although it does have some long climbs. I set of at a good pace and found myself under 19mins for 3M but detached from the main group and hit 8M in 51mins but I have my doubts about that marker. The next few miles was getting difficult with the heat and yet another hill which allowed me to overtake a few other runners. Thankfully nobody overtook me and I finished 19th scraping under 1.24 for a pb.
Fantastic food and coffee aterwards ended a great afternoon.
Results:
19 Mike Anderson 1:23:52
130 Kenneth Stewart 1:54:08
Stuart Clark DNF
196 runners.
It was certainly a hot weekend, so a PB on an undulating course is all the better! Well done.
Thats a fantastic achievement breaking 1:24 Mike, bloomin well done.
It gives me some hope that the best is yet to come after hitting the big four-0
This is a race i've always meant to enter, but keep missing, maybe next year
Well done Mike. I always had slow times at Haddington, sometimes as much as 5 minutes difference than other courses in the same year. It always seems to be too hot on the day, so getting a pb there is excellent. You should be thinking about that magic sub 1:20 now for when its cooler!
