Pedal for Scotland

Myself and Neil are planning to enter the Pedal for Scotland in September!

http://www.pedalforscotland.org/ You put your bikes in a lorry and get on the bus to Glasgow. You and bike are then reunited at Glasgow Green and cycle the 50 odd miles back to Edinburgh. There are food and drink stops all the way along, and if the weather is nice it's a great day out. I think if you enter 4 people at a time you get a discount too. Just wondered if any fellow CAACers were interested in becoming CAAClists for the day?

Hey Jo

Not fancy the Sportive route?

Speaking of cycling, timed to coincide with the Tour de France prologue time-trial this Saturday (3 July) the Nocturne Race Series should be a good day out in the Grassmarket.

I think Gillian and myself are going to enter.

Might even buy a shiney new racer for it !!!

Jo - count me in.  Quite fancy the challenge of the 100 mile one - what do you think?

While we're on the subject of biking, I quite like the look of this new event from the Rat Race folks http://www.scotlandcoasttocoast.com/

There is an option to do it in 1 day rather than 2 which I feel is only right!  Only the expert edition includes the 10.5mile Kayak and you need to have a certificate of competency for that, while the racer edition carries on by bike but still allows the one day attempt.  Too early for me this year but next year...maybe...

Excellent - glad to see I've got some recruits - I'll look into the entry system and let you know asap.

Susan - hmmm...judging by how we were all feeling at mile 50 last time we did it, I'm thinking the 100 miler might be a bit much for me (and the bike!) on this occassion. Maybe next year!? Don't let that stop you from doing the full 100 though!

Tommo - yeah, we saw that Coast to Coast event and thought it looked quite good. Though it's quite expensive so might just do it under our own steam one day rather as part of an event. We are however, planning to enter this: http://www.scottishadventureracing.com/

Jo - can you put me on hold for the time being? Just realised it's the same date as Comrie Hill Relays.  I'm not sure if CAAC are putting a team or two together this year, or whether I'll get picked to run, but if it's yes on both counts, I'd prefer to do the relay.

Not meaning to rain on Jo's parade at all, but re: Comrie - i think we'll definitely be putting a few teams in assuming the interest is there. Was a great little outing! ;]

That's me entered too. Just went for 51 miles!
