Haddington 5 Mile race

Grant Wilkie, Mike Anderson and I headed to East Lothian yesterday to run the Haddington 5 Mile race. I was beginning to doubt my sanity when I arrived about 14:20 to pick up my number, it was baking hot, the warmest I have felt it this year so far, felt a lot hotter than the 21 degrees forecast. Spent the next 40 mins until the start of the race sweating profusely and wondering 'Why am I doing this' , there seemed to be no sheltering from the heat and the race hadn't even started. The first 3 miles of the race were really energy sapping, combination of the heat and the nature of the undulating course, thankfully it seemed to cool down a bit for the last 2 miles, I thought I could take advantage of the really fast last mile and recoup some lost time, but it was not to be, my legs were rubbered and I could not take any advantage of the downhill’s towards the end of the race, eventually finished in yet another embarrassing time, can put some of it down to the conditions though.  Grant finished in an impressive 3rd place overall and Mike also ran a good time for his second race of the day as he had ran the parkrun in the morning, well done chaps.

Well done guys, great results in the heat of the day. And the same day double header from Mikey was impressive, if not slightly deranged, that pint must have been like nectar? What was the evening race?

Good work guys.  I did that one last year.  Was the Heavy Metal festival on in the PArk ?

Tough day for running, well done chaps! Spotted Mike out for a long one today too, impressive efforts.
