Club Handicap

Just had a thought...the day of the handicap is the day of the hearts game at murrayfield kicking off at 745...dont know if this is a problem to anyone...just the streets are going to be very busy!..Just thought id let everyone know incase people were not aware of this..

It has been noticed and talked about, but no decission. Having thought about it, my suggestion is to start the run at 7:45, by then most supporters will be at match. However, there are a number of caac Heart supporters who most likely want to be at the match AND run the handycap  So I suggest a delay of a week?

A few folk tonight were pushing for the Tuesday after club champs. Think thats the 19th. We dont want to leave it too long as it will eat into preparation time for Cross Country (and you all know how much I am looking forward to that !) So all in favour of Tuesday 19th shout out now. Cheers Bob

Tuesday 19th it is then. Well Done!!

Tuesday then. Spead the word. Doesn't make any difference to me anyway. The longer you've been in the club the poorer your chances are because you might have had one or two good runs and everyone remembers them and thinks your good, and you get matched with someone whos totally on form. By the way, there's good prizes this year so get your entries in. Aye, it's all good fun.

Know what you mean Tim, i think last year i started a couple of minutes after the winner was already finished! ;-)

The handicappers work long and hard for several pints to fabricate the starting order. We take into account all entries estimated times and dismiss them straight away and make up our own from all known form.......ever. Seriously though, one of the handicappers stands in the middle of the room with times stuck on them. The other handicapper gets blindfolded then plays pin the runner on the time.

Aye, ur both rite steve and Tim. If we base handicaps on past results, then we, including OCH will just be starting and hearts will be lifting the UFA cup! What type of handicap is that? Not forgetting sum1 b4 that will run the 3km and beat all the olde timer's! note: mozza has been a good runner for 20 years! how good can one get?:)

I don't think Hearts have much chance of lifting the handicapped UEFA cup!

Man, I'm so past it as OCH has pointed out. I reckon i should get a favourable handicap this year!!!

Beware ! I going to run the club handicap. I am on yet another come back ( Keith once said I had more comebacks than Frank Sinatra). Let me know the time and I will be there being mad, bad and competive . Mike M-S:eek:

Watch out for this one, Stevo. Don't underestimate MMS, I've seen him out and about. Handicap is finally and definately on Tuesday the 21st. Meet at Saughton front gates at 7pm.
stevio's picture

That would be finally and definately Tuesday the 19th, eh Tim?

simple rules on handicap should be used. If u ran the "CAAC" Dream(ing) Mile, then use 2 x your time in that race :D If u didnt the run CAACDream mile, but u did last year (and u did well) then use that time plus 10%, bcos we know u are better:p If u didnt run either, then we use ur seasons best(SB) shortest race time divided by the didstance plus 10% For the geeks that is: (SB for 5 mile = 30mins, then mile time for handicapped runner = 30/5.5 =5:27/mile) How you feeling Stevie boy?
Moray Anderson's picture

That would in fact be finally and DEFINITELY Tuesday the 19th. Morgan Umbridge feels football's spelling errors should be expelled from Athletics.
stevio's picture

that would be exspelled maybe. :)
